Moving around
Just two days after extending his loan spell by a month, defender Dave Morley has signed a contract which will keep him at United until the end of the season. This means that United have released a loan spot that they have immediately filled by bringing in Colchester 'keeper
Andy Woodman to cover for injured goalies Ian McCaldon and Richard Knight. Woodman goes straight into the team for the game at Rochdale.
Meanwhile Phil Bolland has gone on loan to Chester City where he links up with former boss Mark Wright and his new assistant Ted McMinn. Lucky Phil. Presumably Bolland has decided to go up north to get regular football, seeing as he appears to be down the pecking order amongst United's plethora of defenders. The length of Bolland's loan is unclear, but presumably one month initially. There are no indications that this will become a permanent move.
Rochdale preview
United visit Spotland on Saturday desparate to improve their away form, which has seen them gain just one point in the three games on the road since Ian Atkins took over. With both professional goalkeepers injured new loan signing Andy Woodman will make his United debut between the sticks. Other changes may see United change to a more defensive 5-3-2 formation as Atkins attempts to stop the away rot. This could see Scott Guyett continue in a back three with Dave Morley and Andy Crosby, with Dave Savage returning to the midfield alongside Paul Tait and Dean Whitehead. That would leave the Sams Stockley and Ricketts fighting it out for the right wingback spot. All speculation of course…
Unfortunately Rage Online can't see United getting much out of a very strong Rochdale team and we predict a 2-0 reverse. Sorry lads. We recommend that you drown your sorrows in the Cemetary Hotel, just down the road from the ground.
More Carr parts
Triallist Darren Carr, who played for the Reserves at Barnet yesterday, has been released from his contract with Dover. Carr only played a couple of games for Dover after signing in October but he had a heart scare during the cup match against Hereford and had to be taken to hospital and he hasn't been involved since.
