Morgan the Dynamo

United won their second successive friendly this evening, beating Shepshed Dynamo 5-2 in an open and entertaining game

at Butthole Lane. Fielding a young side, only six of whom had played against Oxford City on Saturday, United found themselves under the cosh early on, with Alex

Hook putting the hosts a goal up after just 13 minutes. Oxford equalised six minutes later through Danny Morgan.

Shepshed took the lead again ten minutes later when Steven Gomm scored, but Mark E?Beyer grabbed his second in two games to level the scores again. Morgan put United into the lead for the first time seven minutes after half-time, and just two minutes later he completed his hat-trick. An Adam Garner header in the 69th minute completed the scoring.

The main talking point of the game was the fact that there was a female referee, Loughborough?s Amy Raynor?s main contribution being to send Shepshed?s Duncan O?Brien to the sin-bin for two minutes after a nasty tackle. The hosts had plenty of chances in the first few minutes, and the half-time score could have been 4-4, but in the end it was United?s better finishing and superior fitness that told.

United: Clarke, Molyneaux, J Tweed, E?Beyer (Keble), Martin (Mackay), Garner, Burton, Alexis, Morgan (Tommy?), J Brookes (R Brookes), Winter.
