Michael Alexis became the latest player to sign a contract for United when he accepted a six month deal yesterday. Alexis was offered professional terms a couple of years ago, but has been unable to get into the first team, however Graham Rix has given the young midfielder some more time in which to prove himself.
Graham Rix has confirmed his interest in Dundee’s defender Lee Mair, as reported yesterday, and also revealed that the other Dundee player he’s looking at is Mair’s fellow defender Dave Mackay (no, not the former Tottenham and Derby podge). However there is competition for the signatures of both players, and no decision is expected this week.
We now know that we will be playing against Lincoln and Northampton next season following the conclusion of the semi-finals of the play-offs. Lincoln were eliminated by Huddersfield, who won 3-1 at the McAlpine, and Mansfield beat Northampton on penalties after the Cobblers turned over a 2-0 deficit to win 3-1 at Field Mill. The other interesting play-off semi-final result was Brighton’s penalty win over Swindon. Victory for Danny Cullip and Guy Butters over Malcolm Crosby!
