On This Day |
In 1951 United won their fourth successive game, beating Kidderminster 5-1 away from home. Twenty two years later, in Division Two, a Winfield own-goal gave the U's a 1-0 home victory over Nottingham Forest. In 1996 United secured a 3-3 draw at Millwall in the FA Cup thanks to a last minute goal direct from a corner from Bobby Ford. |
Thanks to Swiss Bloke for this update.
The Taylor Woodrow sign is gone and a shiny new Birse Sports Stadia sign is on the new green fencing. The tree saplings that were on the pitch have been removed. Birse signs are everywhere now and loads of signs that are relevant to a working site have been placed by the entrance. Each portakabin now has a birse sign on it.
There are large piles of rubbish dotted all over the site which look like they are due for removal. All of the yellow and white painted crosses on the internal masonary have been removed and the breeze-blocks that were damaged have been replaced. It is expected that a large workforce and heavy machinery are due on site on Monday.
There were only two Second Division games involving our fellow relegation candidates today, both (almost) giving the results we wanted. Swansea lost 2-0 at Wigan whilst Port Vale were held to a 0-0 draw by Oldham at Vale Park. John Durnin scored again for Kidderminster in their 3-2 defeat at Halifax and United's conquerors in the second round of the FA Cup, Chester City, lost 2-0 at Blackburn in the third round.
