Merthyr, she wrote

Oxford United have been drawn away to Merthyr Tydfil in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup.[@opponent]Merthyr Tydfil[/@opponent][@connection]Merthyr Tydfil[/@connection] The tie is to be played on Saturday 27 October at Penydarren Park, which is presumably in the Valleys somewhere.

Merthyr are old Southern League adversaries of United, and still ply their trade in that competition, refusing the option of joining the Welsh Premier League when it was formed in 1992. Apart from a friendly in September 1986, the last time the sides met was in United's last season as a Southern League club, when the Us did the double over the Martyrs, beating them 3-0 on both occasions. However, the sides haven't met in any cup competition before.

Meanwhile, Rage Online wishes all the best to United striker Marvin Robinson, currently on loan to Cambridge United, following the news that the striker was badly injured in a car crash outside Rugby yesterday. Robbo broke a leg, bruised his lungs, and could also have suffered spinal damage. We trust Marvellous will fully recover and will soon be missing chances again at the Abbey.
