Megson's signing off attempts

Neil Warnock and the former Huddersfield manager Peter Jackson are the early candidates to take over at Sheffield United. Let's hope Warnock is more interested in the Blades than Oxford (and vice-versa).
Former Stoke boss Gary Megson has applied for the job at Oxford according to press reports.

Former U's

Everton have given Paul Gerrard a new contract 18 months before his current deal runs out. The 26-year-old keeper has agree to sign a 3 year extension to his current contract. Gerrard was loaned out to Oxford United last season and would have been allowed to leave Everton if a reasonable offer had been received.
Former United midfielder Steve Perryman steered Shimizu S-Pulse to the J.League's second-stage title on Tuesday afternoon. Perryman was head coach for three years until the end of the 1998 season, when Ossie Ardiles left. S-Pulse's achievement was even more noteworthy as the club came close to folding at the end of the 1997 season with debts of 3 billion yen. A consortium of local businesses stepped in to save them, however, but Ardiles and Perryman were forced to work with a drastically reduced budget and a first-team squad of around 18 players to keep costs down. With just one game to go in the second stage, S-Pulse are home and dry.
