Man of the People

Man of the People

Today's Sunday People newspaper contains lengthy allegations of racial abuse against Mark Wright, made by controversial referee Joe Ross who dismissed Wright when United lost to Scunthorpe last month. Wright denies the allegations (see this report from the BBC) which appeared in Ross's report to the FA. The Football Association made no mention of any racial abuse when Wright's hearing took place, leading to claims that the FA have tried to sweep this matter under the carpet. If this is true then serious questions have to be asked, both about Wright's behaviour and about the FA's commitment to stamping out racism within the game.

Rage Online understands that United chairman Firoz Kassam is extremely unhappy with the current situation at the club, and if these allegations prove true then it could well spell the end for Mark Wright as United's manager. If they are with foundation then Rage Online will be at the forefront of calls for Wright's dismissal which, if United's poor form continues, might well just be a matter of time anyway. The question is, who would want to manage OUFC at the moment?
