Rob Wolleaston joined United in a fire-sale from the virtually bankrupt Bradford City in June 2004, bringing with him the wildest hairstyle seen at the club since Brian Heron in the mid-70s. Wolly started at Chelsea, from where he knew Graham Rix, and in fact scored a fantastic goal against United in a pre-season friendly at the Kassam Stadium in 2002.
Wolly`s first season at United was disappointing, the player himself declaring that he played 'rubbish'. Brian Talbot was unimpressed with his claims that he would do better in his second season, and Wolleaston failed to impress during his appearances for the reserves. He failed to make the first team squad, and was had his contract paid up in November 2005.
