Paul Steven Wanless. Born Banbury. Wanny rejoined the club where he began his career after seven seasons at Cambridge United, where he was club captain, at the start of the 2003/04 season. A Banbury lad, Wanless came through United`s youth set up but was unable to establish himself in the side, and moved to Lincoln in the Summer of 1995. He had a couple of months on loan at Woking before moving to Cambridge in March 2006. He made over 300 hundred appearances for the other Us, and scored 50 goals, before his surprising return to Oxford. He quickly established himself as a vital component of the Us` midfield and immediately won the fans round for his committed performances. It was met with sadness by United fans when Brian Talbot`s first act as manager was to release Wanny, who moved to Forest Green Rovers.
