M Day – June 7th

Oxford United supporters are not the only ones mounting a campaign against Morrells of Oxford. Residents of Greater Leys are planning a demonstration outside the old brewery in Oxford city centre on Wednesday June 7th as their estate also falls within the remit of the covenant on the Blackbird pub, meaning that there is no pub or local shop serving the new estate. United fans are certain to be welcomed to join in with the demo.

Mickey's so fine

Mickey Lewis has accepted Denis Smith's offer to remain as his number 2 coach, meaning that he will no longer be the youth team coach. This means that there is now a vacancy for the youth team position as Les Taylor is remaining as the Youth Development Officer.

Honest as the day is long

Gillingham's Andy Thomson has declared his wishes to return to Scotland rather than face another tough English Division One season.Having played in Division 1 before with Southend and Oxford he has been relegated three times from the division. Thomson said “I`ve had six good years in England and having played in Division 1 with Southend and Oxford I know I`d struggle. I don`t want to do that, so I`ll either give it another year or try and go back to Scotland in the close season”. Thomson will make his decision and tell manager Peter Taylor toward the end of this week.
