Luton tomorrow

Luton tomorrow

United travel to Kenilworth Road tomorrow to face one of the few teams unable to do the double over them, thanks to the 0-0 draw at the Manor on 17th October. United have Chris Hackett back from suspension and Andy Scott recovered from the injury he picked up at Wrexham so there is more or less a full squad for David Kemp to select his team from. What's the betting then that he still includes consistent weakest link Matt Murphy at the expense of one of his more talented colleagues? Initial reports state that leading scorer Phil Gray has been dropped in favour of Steve Anthrobus, in which case we may as well throw the towel in right now.

Joe Kinnear, in a desparate attempt to stave off the inevitable barracking that he'll receive tomorrow, has called United fans wonderful and claimed that his reasons for leaving United were nothing to do with the club or its supporters. There may be some truth in this, but United fans are still bitter at the reasons he gave for leaving which were exposed as untruths almost immediately and so Kinnear can expect a rough ride from the Oxford supporters. There is some speculation that he might soon be receiving similar treatment from Luton fans now that George Graham has been sacked by Tottenham.

United boss David Kemp claims that he's not spoken to Kinnear in the last week in case he accidentally lets slip some team details or tactics, assuming he has any. One suspects that Kinnear won't actually require this information as he steers Luton to inevitable victory over United. Rage Online predicted a scoreline of 2-0 to the Hatters until we heard about Gray's exclusion, so we have now revised our initial thoughts and come up with a 4-0 victory to the home side.

According to our doubtless inept mathematics Rage Online has calculated that if Oxford loses its next four matches (Luton, Rotherham, Cambridge and Northampton), a by no means impossible feat, then we would be unable to reach safety. Therefore we could be relegated before the end of March.
