Lights out

Lights out

The Headington skyline has been changed forever. The Manor floodlights are no more. No longer will they tower over the JR, visible from miles around (even from the new stadium). This really is the end of an era, proof incontrovertible that the Manor has gone, never to return. United were the first professional club to play under floodlights, in December 1950, but the ultimate symbol of football stadia around the world is no longer an Oxford icon. Never mind.

Not musical youth

United's under-19s lost 1-0 to Northampton on Saturday, whilst the under-17s went down 5-0 to some nomarks from Wiltshire. Never mind.

Gibbo

Former United star Kevin Gibbens, released at the end of last season, had a trial last week with Basingstoke Town. Never mind.
