Leyton time

From the Rage Online newsdesk Sunday, March 27th, 2005

With the season drawing rapidly to a close, and the games coming thick and fast, this Easter weekend is often seen as make or break time for many teams. However, for United the season broke back in October, and everything since has been remedial action. Next up it’s Leyton Orient, and while it’s still mathematically possible for United to make the play-offs, the season will still feel partially alive for those supporters who believe in miracles. Or at least in Ramon Diaz.

After the hard-fought draw up in Scunthorpe on Friday, it is quite feasible that Horacio Rodriguez will make some changes. Mateo Corbo could be brought into the defence, while Amine Karam could find himself on the bench. Craig Davies is still missing, having travelled to Austria with the Wales under-21 squad, and Jamie Brooks, Danny Brown and Rob Wolleaston are all still injured. Dave Woozley made his debut for Yeovil yesterday, coming off the bench in the Glovers’ 2-1 win at Boston, but otherwise United have a full squad to choose from.

Orient are now below United in the table, having lost 3-2 at home to Cheltenham on Friday in a game described by those present as dire. Last season they came to the KasStad on Boxing Day, and lost 1-0 to a last minute Julian Alsop lob. They now feature two ex-Us in Lee Steele and Andy Scott, which means that United will probably have to score three goals in order to win. We suspect that’s beyond Oxford, and we’re going to plump for a 2-2 draw with our latest flawed prediction.
