Oxford United lost two players today. Levi Reid, who signed a month-to-month contract at the start of this month has requested that next month the contract isn't renewed. Reid, who hails from Stafford, has a sick baby and wants to be closer to home while playing football part time. Naturally, United have agreed to his request (well it would be rude not to). We wish Levi and his family all our best wishes.
The other player to depart was loanee Karleigh Osbourne, who has returned to Brentford. Darren Patterson was hoping to keep Osborne here for another couple of months, but apparently Bees boss Andy Scott decided that he required Osborne's presence back in West London.[@player]reid, levi[/@player][@player]osborne, karleigh[/@player] An alternative interpretation could be that these departures are symptomatic of the financial malaise allegedly surrounding United, but of course that is merely speculation.
Wrexham have apparently lined up former United hero Dean Saunders for their vacant manager's post. Saunders is currently John Toshack's assistant with the Wales national squad, but despite this he was at Wrexham's training ground this week.[@player]saunders, dean[/@player] Meanwhile, Northwich Victoria manager Dino Maamria has been sent on gardening leave by the club pending an internal investigation. Naughty Dino was recently charged with abusive and insulting language directed at the referee in charge of their game with Torquay United.
