Knocking on the Dorchester

From the Rage Online newsdesk Sunday, October 26th, 2008

In the draw for the first round proper of the FA Cup, Oxford United have been handed a home tie against Dorchester Town.[@opponent]dorchester town[/@opponent] This is a rematch of the 1995 tie, when the Us beat the Magpies 9-1, which remains United's best score since joining the Football League in 1962.

In that match, Dorchester featured former United keeper Ken Veysey, who had little chance with any of Oxford's goals. Despite the high score, the biggest cheer of the night was reserved for Dorchester's late goal, scored from the penalty spot.

In the fourth qualifying round Dorchester beat Bishop's Stortford 1-0 with a goal by Nick Crittendon. In the previous round they beat Gosport Borough 1-0, having already disposed of Newport County 2-1 after a 2-2 home draw. Dorchester are currently lying 19th in the Conference South.
