King Joey?

King Joey?

Joey Beauchamp to join the Royals? According to a story in today's Reading Evening Post Joey is set to join Reading on a Bosman transfer should Oxford be relegated this season. Hopefully then he'll still be a True U come August, although you can read the Rage Online view of our survival chances on the Comment Page.

Who should stay and who should go – your view

The results of the latest Rage Online polls into who you feel Oxford United should retain next season are now available. There are eleven players whose contracts expire in the Summer, plus manager Denis Smith. Here's what you think:

Stay Go
Denis Smith 67% 33%
Joey Beauchamp 92% 2%
Jamie Cook 65% 22%
Steve Davis 23% 68%
Rob Folland 91% 7%
Nigel Jemson 16% 78%
Pål Lundin 55% 41%
Eddie Newton 89% 9%
Les Robinson 5% 89%
Jon Shepheard 74% 9%
Mark Watson 98% 2%
Phil Whelan 30% 57%

A couple of surprises there – all the old guard should go (although there were more people wanting Phil Whelan to stay than one would perhaps have thought); there was some uncertainty over Pål Lundin, presumably due to the possible signing of Richard Knight (see the latest Rage Online poll), and perhaps the most surprising result of all was the high number of people thinking that Denis Smith should be offered a new contract. The four players almost everyone thinks ought to be retained are Mark Watson, Joey Beauchamp, Rob Folland and Eddie Newton – a view with which Rage Online concurs.
