Kev for Carlisle?

Could SuperKev be about to link up with Johnny Lager to form the most potent striking partnership in Division Three? Apparently Carlisle have been making enquiries about Kevin Francis's availability and were considering an approach should he have come through Tuesday's reserve game at Norwich unscathed, which he did. It is unlikely that United's management would shed many tears at Francis's departure – his time at United has been blighted by injury and he is one of the highest paid players at the club. Francis is out of contract at the end of the season and so should Carlisle offer United a fee for him, however small, the club will probably bite their metaphorical hands off!

Watty to face Solano?

Should Mark Watson's Canada overcome Trinidad & Tobago this evening they will face Colombia in the CONCACAF Gold Cup final. The South Americans beat Peru 2-1 in the other semi-final earlier today.

Onward Christian Edwards

The left-sided Premiership defender we have been promised for several days turns out to be Christian Edwards, a right-footed centre-half from Division One outfit Nottingham Forest. Someone was either exagerating for effect or being economical with the truth! Apparently Edwards can play on either side of defence and so can cover for Mark Watson in his absence, presumably allowing Jon Shepheard to play on the left. Edwards was signed by Forest from Swansea for £275,000 and has played in the Premiership and for Wales 'B', although his chances at Forest have been “limited” (a euphemism for not being good enough for the first team).

John Durnin in driving offence shock

Magistrates have issued a warrant for the arrest of former Oxford United striker John Durnin after he failed to answer a summons for allegedly running a red light. Durnin, 34, was playing for Portsmouth was the incident occurred but has sinced joined Carlisle United. He was asked to appear before magistrates at Eastleigh, Hants, after being accused of driving through a red light last May 8. The warrant is to be passed to Cumbria police. I expect the local constabulary at Witney have a few fond recollections of Durnin's driving expertise.
