Jomo joins

United were today poised to sign Cardiff City striker Kenyatta (Gavin) Gordon (right) on a one month loan. Manchester born Gordon joined Cardiff for £275,000 from Lincoln City in December 2000, but he has been plagued by injuries and poor form since signing for the Bluebirds, although he did score five in an LDV Trophy game against Rushden and, more impressively, injured Rio Ferdinand when Cardiff played Leeds last season. Gordon will almost certainly feature against York tomorrow, although it remains to be seen (obviously) whether or not he will be in the starting line-up or whether Ian Atkins will give Jefferson Louis a chance, following the praise he heaped upon the former Thame United forward after the reserves game at Bristol City on Wednesday, or Lee Steele, following the ex-Brighton player's hat-trick.

In another, lower-profile, move former Oxford 'keeper Arjan Van Heusden has moved from Exeter City to join Mansfield on a short-term contract.

Yorkie Bar preview

Can Jon Matthews continue his incredible scoring run? Will Gary Silver get up in time to make the kick off? Will Raging Fever have enough players or will they have to rely on sub-standard ringers? How will RF cope without their formidable right back? Does anyone really care? There will be a report of Raging Fever's latest attempt to avoid humiliation next week, providing someone writes it.

Yorkie City preview

United visit Bootham Crescent tomorrow hoping to make it four straight away wins, and to extend their unbeaten run to six games. There will definitely be at least one change to the team that drew with Hull last Saturday as Andy Scott serves his one-match ban for his dismissal at Bristol City. The most likely scenario is that Ian Atkins will play Manny Omoyinmi alongside David Oldfield up front, but he could be tempted to give Lee Steele his first start of the season after scoring a hat-trick for the reserves at Bristol City on Wednesday and coming through that game with no ill-effects.

The other selection poser is whether Atkins continues with Paul Powell or else gives Matt Robinson another run out. Powell has impressed in his recent games and there is no real reason to drop him, unless Atkins goes back to a flat back four, which is unlikely given the recent success of the wing back system, so we expect Powelly to keep his place.

York City feature Lee Nogan, of course, and so are guaranteed at least one goal against us. They are also currently sixth in the table and unbeaten at home, not that it matters that much to United, who have the joint best away record in the division. Rage Online say: 1-1.
