Joey Beauchamp revealed exclusively to Rage Online that he will almost certainly sign for Oxford tomorrow morning before he goes off on holiday to Ayia Napa in Cyprus with Jamie Cook. Joey says that he has almost definitely decided to sign for United, who improved their offer after making him a poor one initially. Although Oxford hasn’t quite matched Reading’s terms Joey says that he is happy at Oxford and so will probably sign anyway, although he is quite prepared to wait until he returns from holiday as he is not in a hurry to sign. Beauchamp revealed that in the end it was a straight choice between Oxford and Reading and that he hasn’t heard anything from Portsmouth.
Meanwhile Cook is also seeking improved terms as he was offered a poor deal by Oxford. Like Joey he would like to stay at the club, but feels he is worthy of a better offer.
The voting is over, the votes counted, the ballot closed, the results now made public. Rage Online readers, for reasons best known to themselves, would like the new stadium (if it’s ever completed) to be called the New Manor. This name topped the poll with 48% of the vote, beating the second favourite, and de facto name, Minchery Farm, which received 22%. The Arthur Turner Memorial Stadium came a poor third with just 7% with none of the other options scoring more than 4%. Of course the stadium will actually be named after whichever business coughs up the most money to have it called after them, whilst everyone will continue to call it Minchery Farm anyway.
There is a new poll on the Voting Booth, trying to determine whether United supporters are optimists or realists…
