Happy news story for the week is the Oxford Mail's tale that Joey Beauchamp is likely to be on the bench, at the least, for this Saturday's vital crunch match against Scunthorpe. Joey has resumed training following his groin strain received against Reading in early March and should he be fit enough could be a useful weapon to deploy against the Irons, especially in the second half.
Dean Windass is allegedly a target of Leicester manager Martin O'Neill who is apparently ready to shell out £1.5 million for the former United striker should Bradford be relegated. Windass is currently the Bantams' top scorer with nine goals and it is thought that, even should Bradford go down, Paul Jewell is unlikely to sell him. Mind you, at Leicester they hardly need any more Oxford exiles…
Despite stories to the contrary Matty Elliott passed a late fitness test to play for Scotland in their 0-0 draw in Holland.
