Joe's toes
X-rays taken today have revealed that Joey Beauchamp's “sore toe” is in fact a broken bone in the winger's foot. Mark Wright, who was scathing about Joey missing Saturday's game with such a paltry injury, must surely now eat humble pie and apologise to United's prodigy, as must a number of fans who joined in the anti-Joey chorus. Beauchamp will certainly miss tomorrow's reserves match against Brighton at Court Place Farm, and will probably be out of action for three or four weeks.
Drewe's in the picture
The latest striker to be linked with a move to United is Kidderminster's
Drewe Broughton. Wright has been quoted as saying that Broughton is the type of player he's after and, at 22 years old, he's also the right age. Whether this interest turns into a concrete move remains to be seen, but Wright can't keep promising new faces every week with no action without starting to lose credibility.
The latest twist in the Paul Moody saga is that another person on the This Is United forum (see yesterday's U's News), who also claims to be a friend of the Millwall striker, has said that he has spoken with Moody who has denied the story that he is going to sign for United this week. We're not quite sure why anyone would want to make up these sorts of stories, but we wish they'd stop…
