Oxford United have completed the signing of Watford striker Alex Jakubiak on a six-month youth loan deal.
The 17-year-old arrives at the Kassam Stadium as United’s seventh summer signing until January 4.
Jakubiak, who won his first Scotland Under-19 cap against Belgium on Tuesday night, spent the second half of last season at Braintree Town.
He made his first-team debut for the Conference outfit in March, scoring his first senior goal of his career against Wrexham during their 3-0 victory.
Jakubiak then made his first-team debut for Championship side Watford in the Hornets’ 4-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town on the final day of the 2013-14 campaign.
The young forward scored 23 times for Watford’s Under-18’s and in the Under-21 Premier League Cup last term before signing a new two year professional deal at Vicarage Road over the summer.
Jakubiak, who joins Danny Hylton, Carlton Morris and James Roberts in the Yellows’ strike force, was delighted to join Oxford: “This is a really good move for me.
“Oxford are an exciting club that play football the right way and I feel that I can help them achieve something this season.”
U’s manager Michael Appleton was also pleased: “Alex brings us some depth to our attacking options and will compete for the positions up top.
“He is fast and direct and fits in to what we’re trying to build here. I’d like to thank Watford for allowing him to join us until January.”
