Division Two side Watford have recalled Alex Jakubiak from his loan spell at Oxford United.
The 18 year-old striker was due to stay at the Kassam Stadium until the New Year, but the Scotland Under-19 international only started twice for the Us having made ten appearances altogether for the Division Four side.
Jakubiak scored one goal for United, opening the scoring for Oxford in their 3-3 draw against Dagenham and Redbridge at the Kassam Stadium back in August.
Us head coach Michael Appleton said: “First of all I want to thank Watford for letting him come here on loan.
“He has found it hard to get games over the last few weeks and we talked to Watford and the player himself and everyone agreed that the best thing for him right now is to be back at Vicarage Road. “Alex has tons of ability and is keen to learn and we have enjoyed working with him here and wish him well for the future.”
Meanwhile, fellow Division Two outfit Charlton Athletic have granted Oxford permission to field on-loan defender Tareiq Holmes-Dennis in Saturday’s FA Cup first round trip to Grimsby Town.
The 19 year-old left-back has impressed manager Appleton since arriving from The Valley last month, starring in his first four games for the Us.
Fellow loanees Joe Riley (Bolton Wanderers) and Tyrone Barnett (Peterborough United) are also available for the trip to Blundell Park on Saturday, although George Long (Sheffield United) is ineligible under the terms of his deal and United’s top goalscorer Danny Hylton is suspended.
