Barrow is the economic, transportation, and administrative centre for the North Slope Borough. Located on the Chukchi Sea coast, Barrow is the northernmost community in the United States. That's a helluva long way for a poxy Conference game, but hopefully the travelling will work in Oxford's favour.
Tomorrow Barrow visit Oxford for the first time in eight days for, arguably, the more important of the two meetings. Oxford will be looking to bounce back from the disappointment of losing 3-1 at Kidderminster Harriers last weekend, and the United players owe it to the 2,000+ travelling supporters to put in a more characteristic performance. That was only the second defeat of the season for the Us, who have only failed to win once at home this season in a goalless draw with Forest Green Rovers.
Chris Wilder will have to make at least two changes to the side that lost at Aggborough, whether he wanted to or not. Left back Steven Kinniburgh serves the first of his two-match suspension after he was sent off when conceding a penalty, with Kevin Sandwith coming in as a straight replacement. More tricky is the absence of Matt Green, who tore the medial ligaments of his right knee in the closing minutes of the Kidderminster game and who is looking at being out of action for at least a month. It's possible that Jamie Cook, now recovered from his own injury, could replace him, while Wilder is also hopeful of bringing in a loan striker, possibly in time for tomorrow's game.
Barrow will be no pushovers, and are currently unbeaten in their last nine Conference and FA Cup games, including the 1-1 draw with Oxford at Holker Street on 3 October. Last time out the Cumbrians threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at home to AFC Wimbledon to leave themselves 16th in the table. Barrow have signed Chesterfield striker Jordan Bowery on loan until 9 January and he will almost certainly play tomorrow as a replacement for Carlisle United's Andy Cook, who broke his foot in the Wimbledon game. Also doubtful is striker Jon Shaw, although Barrow have signed former-U Craig Nelthorpe on loan from York City, so expect to see them end the game with just ten players.
