It was fourteen years ago today

The last time Oxford were any good? Maybe, but it was worth it!

Penney goes up in the world

Dave Penney was appointed player-manager of Conference side Doncaster Rovers today following the sackings of Glyn and Ian Snodin as manager and assistant.

Oxford Downer?

A totally spurious and unconfirmed rumour has linked Oxford with Leyton Orient defender Simon Downer. With Mark Watson, Phil Whelan, Steve Davis, Les Robinson, Jon Shepheard and Rob Folland all out of contract at the end of the season, and Paul Powell linked with a possible move to Newcastle or elsewhere, it would appear to be a priority for United to bring in new defenders.

Joey back?

Another unconfirmed rumour is that Joey Beauchamp has recovered from his groin strain and will be back in the side this Saturday to face Brentford. The source of the rumour is believed to be Joey himself from a remark he made when presenting certificates at a soccer course. This would be good news indeed as it appears that Steve Davis and Neil McGowan are also on the verge of returning to first team action, leaving just Peter Fear and Ross Weatherstone as the only two notable absentees through injury.
