It is now mathematically impossible for us to see Joe Kinnear's arse in Harrods' window. Not a great surprise really as United dropped two more points at home to Kidderminster and, once again, had to come from behind to save the game. The Harriers went ahead in the 63rd minute through former United target Drewe Broughton, who otherwise had a poor game. His shot was parried onto the post by Andy Woodman and crept over the line. Jamie Brooks then did a Joey and scored the equaliser in his first appearance after a lengthy injury, ten minutes from time, although he looked absolutely knackered afterwards. United also hit the woodwork twice, with Paul Moody shooting against the post, Paul Powell against the bar, and Andy Crosby also hit the bar, from which Brooks fired home the rebound.
Ian Atkins made two changes from the team that started at Southend on Saturday. Jon Richardson replaced Dave Morley in the right back slot and Paul Tait returned from injury to cover for the injured Dave Savage in midfield. United's first substitution took place after just eleven minutes when Morley came on for Rico, who banged his head on the tarmac round around the pitch after trying in vain to save the ball from going out for a throw-in. Then with eighteen minutes to go Brooks came on for Tait to salvage a point.
Lancashire referee C Foy booked Andy Scott for “simulation” (that's diving to you and me). The attendance wasn't quite the lowest at the Kassam Stadium, although not far off it at just 5,027. Match report is available here.
United have risen one place, to 16th, as a result of this draw, going above Darlington who lost 1-0 at home to Macclesfield. League leaders Plymouth beat lowly York 1-0 and second placed Luton beat even lowlier Leyton Orient 3-0. United's next opponents, Third placed Mansfield, went down 4-1 at Hull, whilst Conference bound Halifax lost again, 2-1 at home to Rochdale.
