Oxford will be hoping to maintain their 2005 unbeaten record at Lincoln on Saturday, despite Ramon Diaz today receiving the fourth division Manager of the Month award for services rendered to the League Managers’ Association. Lincoln are four points ahead of United, and have a game in hand, which makes it just that little bit more important that the Us get something from the game, although there’s still a lot of the season left, so anything can happen before May.
United have no new injury worries, and Paul Wanless came through a full 90 minutes for the reserves at Peterborough on Tuesday, although he is unlikely to make the starting line-up, which will almost certainly stay the same for the third game in succession. Some of the players may suffer a reaction to their charity waxing earlier today, but their hairless bods might just be a bit more streamlined.
Lincoln are on a good run themselves, although their home record isn’t too brilliant (still better than Oxford’s away record, mind), and United have won their last two visits to Sincil Bank, both by 1-0. While the Imps will be looking to stifle Tommy Mooney and Craig Davies, they have their own danger man in Simon Yeo, who scored a hat-trick at Grimsby a couple of weeks back. We’ve been asked why we don’t predict more wins for Oxford. The answer is because we don’t. 1-1.
