Harford's new job (paid)

It would appear that Ray Harford is to get his wish to be more involved as today he joined Millwall as their first team coach. Joint Lions boss Alan McLeary said: “we are delighted that Ray has agreed to join us. He's vastly experience and will give not only our First Team, but also our younger squad and all the players in general some more experience of different types of coaching. We hope his arrival will speed their football education up, and offer myself and Keith an experienced hand. Like I say, we are delighted to have Ray and hopefully he will be a great benefit to everyone at the club”.

Big earners

According to Firoz Kassam, in his interview on Thames Valley FM (now renamed Radio Oxford) on Saturday, Oxford United have the highest salary bill in Division Two of £1.7 million a year. Statistically this works out as being far more than any of them are worth, judging by the showing against Bristol Rovers. Presumably this is a combination of the hang over of Division One salaries, combined with Malcolm Shotton blowing his whole budget at the start of this season on players of the calibre of Peter Fear, Derek Lilley and Steve Anthrobus.
