Grant checks in

From the Rage Online newsdesk Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Oxford United today signed Aldershot striker John Grant on a loan deal until the end of the season. Grant trained with the Oxford squad today and goes straight into the squad to play AFC Wimbledon this evening.

The 6'0″ striker played under Chris Wilder's management at Halifax in 2005-06, when the Shaymen reached the Conference play-off final. Grant scored in that match, but they lost to Hereford United. In 2007-08 Grant scored twice as Aldershot won 3-2 at the Kas, and then scored the only goal in the return match at the Rec as the Shots completed the double over Oxford. He was Aldershot's leading scorer that season as they won the Conference championship.

Grant has played 20 games for Aldershot this season, 15 as substitute, scoring three goals. The striker has won England C caps, taking part in the 2007 Four Nations Tournament in Toulon, alongside Andy Burgess.
