According to Teletext Oxford United are to play a friendly at Banbury United to help them celebrate promotion from the Hellenic League to the Southern League (old habits die hard). Unfortunately no details of the date are available, which is a shame.
Eight Oxford Oxford supporters who were arrested after last season’s match against Reading have been told to report to police during the Euro 2000 tournament. The men, aged from 18 to 35 and from Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, were charged with violent disorder. They appeared in court last week but the case was adjourned until next month.
Apologies for the lack of an update yesterday but there were two reasons for this: firstly there was nothing to report; and secondly it was the annual ROCSPU (Rage On Close-Season Piss-Up) which involved editors, contributors and assorted liggers going down to South Park to drink beer, play football, drink beer, have a picnic, drink beer, play cricket and even drink some beer. Normally this annual ritual also involves a curry somewhere along the way at one of Cowley Road’s finest, but this year the Butchers Arms was the venue instead for the England v. Germany game.
South Africa beat Swaziland 2-0 in the Cosafa Cup yesterday. Not surprisingly Andre Arendse didn’t play as RSA had John Tlale in goal.
