Fortress Manor breached again

United's third game of the season has left them still goalless and pointless after Brentford won 1-0 today. Their goal was scored in the 20th minute by Tony Folan. United's starting line-up was the same as at Wolves but in the second half Chris Hackett came on for Matt Murphy and the side reverted to 4-4-2, with Jon Shepheard and John Robertson filling the full-back positions. Derek Lilley replaced Steve Anthrobus towards the end. The attendance was a measly 4,756, all of whom impeccably observed a one minute's silence for Maurice Evans before the kick-off. A match report is available here.
Meanwhile Richard Knight won the Port Vale Man of the Match vote with 67%.

Paul Wanless scored Cambridge United's goal in their 1-0 win over Bristol City with a second half penalty. Paul Simpson scored Blackpool's opener in their 2-2 draw against Leyton Orient. Lee Nogan scored Darlington's second in their 2-0 win at Southend.
