Former Rage On sponsee goes north

On This Day
On January 28th 1964 The U's actually beat Brentford 2-1 in a fourth round FA Cup replay at Griffin Park thanks to two goals from Bill Calder. On this day in 1966 United welcomed swindon to the Manor for the first time. Unfortunately they refused to show their hosts due respect and beat us 3-0, the cads. In 1984 the 28th of January saw United triumph over Blackpool in the FA Cup fourth round, two penalties from Bobby McDonald enough to secure a 2-1 win. At the same stage of the same competition in 1989 United weren't so lucky, going down 4-0 at Old Trafford to a team in red. In 1994 on 29th January United were cruising 2-0 up at home to Leeds thanks to goals from Alex Dyer and Matt Elliott, but those darned Peacocks scored twice late on to take United back to Elland Road. Tee-hee.

Former Rage On sponsee goes north

Jamie Cook, sponsored by Rage On a couple of seasons ago, has gone to join Martin Gray at Darlington on trial. He is likely to play for their reserves against Scunthorpe on Wednesday and could be the first of the “crowd favourites” referred to by David Kemp on Radio Oxford to leave the club. Cook has always had an eye for goal and memorably scored United's first at Maine Road three seasons ago, as well as the winner against Bury away last season and at home this. Unfortunately his lack of strength has always counted against him and his departure, if he does eventually leave, won't be considered too great a loss to United's squad, which is in desparate need of trimming.
