Folland a doubt

Folland a doubt

Rob Folland is the latest of the out-of-contract players to express discontentment at the new terms he has been offered by the club. In common with all his colleagues in that position Folland has only been offered a one-year contract as chairman Firoz Kassam claims that, until he is able to proceed with the new stadium, that is all he will offer. As reported yesterday on Rage OnlineJamie Cook has also gone back to Denis Smith to seek better terms. Meanwhile Joey Beauchamp has gone on his Cypriot holiday without signing a new contract, presumably to see whether either Reading or Oxford come back to him with improved offers. Reading were allegedly offering Joey £1,000 per week more than Oxford, but this is unconfirmed. This just leaves Phil Whelan and Mark Watson to respond to their offers, and Rage Online believes that Watson is also unhappy with what he has been offered. Steve Davis has intimated that he might still return to United should he be unable to find another club. With Robinson already gone, Davis possibly not returning, Folland and Watson reportedly unhappy with their offers and Whelan unknown this leaves United potentially desparately short of defensive cover (especially if Paul Powell gets sold too), although Smith claims that he has found a replacement right back who should sign on his return from holiday. This won’t be enough and Rage Online hopes that Smith is busy chasing round for further signings too.

Robbo wants a testimonial

Les Robinson, ten years at United until he rejoined Mansfield earlier this week (the last two as club captain), has said that he would like the club to grant him a testimonial match. Testimonials are normally granted to players who have served one club for ten years, so Robbo is certainly deserving of one on that criterion. Meanwhile Robinson has denied earlier reports that he is going to be working at Mansfield in any coaching capacity.

Accounts analysed

Following hours spent poring over the figures by our crack team of financial experts (well, okay, Gunth) Rage Online has now published its analysis of the club’s accounts – please visit the Rage Online Comment page for our bland and uninformative opinion.
