Raging Fever played a friendly against Hull supporters, on their way down the A420, this morning, seeing as Rochdale don’t have a fans’ team. Fever started brightly and totally dominated the first half, creating chance after chance, while Hull only had one effort on goal, which went harmlessly wide.
Raging Fever took a 2-0 lead into the half-time break, which wasn’t at all a fair reflection of their dominance. Both goals were scored by Kasim in his first game of the season following a summer operation, the first goal an uncharacteristic header. A combination of good defending and wasteful finishing meant that Fever were unable to add to their lead.
The second half started as the first had ended, with Fever on top, and it wasn’t long before Gary Silver scored to give the home side a three-goal cushion. This should have been the end for Hull, but for some reason the Oxford fans switched off and allowed the opposition back into the game. Hull pulled one goal back, and then a second, and Fever started to look distinctly shakey. Sure enough, Hull scored a third, despite their player looking a good couple of yards offside, and if it hadn’t been for a number of fine saves from Gary Butler in the RF goal, the United lads could well have lost the game. At the final whistle they were grateful that the game ended 3-3.
