Northampton Town 3 Raging Fever 1

With neither Northampton nor Oxford having a first-team game on 27 January, both sets of fans were left with a spare morning that they gleefully filled by playing each other once again. Fever only took twelve players, including a couple of debutants, compared to the Cobblers squad that was numerous. At least the lack of players made team selection easier than normal.

Fever started the brighter of the two sides and had good early pressure, with James Windle settling into the side well in midfield. After a multitude of throw-ins, John Matthews managed to head one down the line that he chased onto before delivering a cross for Stuart Burson to thump into the roof of the net. It was a deserved lead, but as usual Fever conceded soon after. Geoff Carter shepherded the skilful Cobblers striker to the edge of the box, but unfortunately Joel Harrison came rampaging off his line to give the striker a chipping opportunity that he took well.
