Fever bury-ed in the mud

Raging Fever 3 Bury 9

Report by Gez Foster

Defensive errors cost Raging Fever dear as they failed to capitalise on their early dominance, and ultimately ended up submitting to a sound thrashing. But while Bury undoubtedly deserved to whine, sorry, win, if only on the strength of their finishing, well perhaps the final score-line was still a little harsh.

Kicking downhill in the first half, it was arguably Fever who were the stronger team, and it was rather against the run of play when Bury broke down the right and crossed for an unmarked player to slot the ball home. Fever, however, came roaring back, and a fine move down the left involving Gez Foster, Gary Silver, and John Matthews gave the opportunity for Toby Pear to break into the area, beat a defender and then curl the ball into the far corner of the net. It could have been 2-1 soon after, when Matthews bobbled one onto the post and Danny Pear, bravely struggling with a back injury, also saw a shot flash just wide.

The Bury players were clearly struggling with Fever
