Excitement mounts

From the Rage Online newsdesk Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

Ticket sales for United's two play-off semi finals against Exeter City are going well, with Oxford's allocation of almost 1,300 for the away leg on Friday almost sold out. Queues of up to three hundred people formed outside the Grenoble Road ticket offices yesterday, while the inadequate Firoka phone system had a virtual meltdown as callers waited anything up to two hours to get connected.

Tickets for the home leg are also selling fast, as United vie to beat the current Conference play-off semi-final record of 10,803, set in 2005 by Carlisle United for their match against Aldershot Town. With both games to be shown live on Sky TV, Oxford will set a new club record for the number of games shown on the box in a season, which currently stands at four matches, for both 1996/97 and the current season.

Following on the desperate news that Luke Foster will be unavailable for the play offs, following his fractured tibia received at York on Saturday, there is slightly better news from the club, as Georges Santos looks set to appear for the reserves today in their final match of the season, and possibly their final regular league fixture ever, at Luton Town this afternoon. His lack of match fitness makes it unlikely that he will feature except as a substitute, however.
