Ramon takes charge of Oxford United for the first time tomorrow, as fellow relegation candidates Cambridge United visit the KasStad. Most attention will probably fall on the dugout, though, as Ramon and his crew struggle to squeeze into the available seats. With Diaz only able to take one training session so far, albeit a fairly intense one, it would be preposterous to expect too much from the side so soon, and we are unlikely to see a huge difference in either personnel or tactics from the side that lost to Swansea on Wednesday.
United will be without Jon Ashton following his dismissal against the Swans, and either Dave Woozley or Lee Molyneaux are likely to deputise. Simon Cox is still injured, and neither Tom Winters nor Danny Brown have recovered yet either, so much will depend on whether Diaz wishes to play some of the younger squad members, or recall Rob Wolleaston from the cold, whether the side looks comprehensively different from Wednesday’s losers.
Cambridge look likely to be without Warren Goodhind, although he is appealing against his dismissal against Scunthorpe on Tuesday so he may yet feature. They are managed by Frenchman Claude Le Roy, so it will be a rare inter-continental battle for Division Four. With the false Us second from bottom, and Oxford only six points and three places above them, this could be a game that might offend the cultured tastes of Se?or Diaz. One assumes that he already knows the scale of the task facing him, so tomorrow shouldn’t hold too many shocks, despite our confidently predicted 0-0 scoreline.
