Desire

On this most auspicious day more rumours of players who might one day join United have surfaced. According to the Oxford Mail the club has expressed an interest in out-of-contract Chesterfield striker David Reeves, who scored 15 goals as the Spireites won promotion last season (subject to possible court action, of course). Reeves age (33) may count against him, especially as the club already has a senior striker in Phil Gray, unless Gray keeps to his threat to leave following relegation.

Our friends from Teamtalk, never ones to pass up an opportunity of passing off a totally unfounded rumour as fact (Rage Online = pot; Teamtalk = kettle!) reckon that United are chasing Wales Under-21 international Danny Williams who has been released by Wrexham. Williams, 21, is a midfielder.

You're gonna make me lonesome when you go

Oxford's current sponsor, Domino, have, as expected, announced that they will not be continuing their sponsorship next season, citing budgetary reasons for their decision. It is not know who, if anyone, United have lined up to put on their new kit next season but they should have had enough notice to be at an advanced stage of negotiations with any potential sponsor, shouldn't they? The target date for the release of the new strip is July 1st.

Season ticket information should be going out in the next fortnight and a viewing platform at Minchery Farm is also scheduled to be up and running in around two weeks' time.

Bringing it all back home

The Football Association has announced that they won't be punishing United for the coin throwing that took place during the swindon match at the Manor this season. Instead they will be sending assessors to various games at Minchery Farm next season to monitor the crowd's behaviour, thus swelling the attendance figures.

Oh mercy

Freewheelin'

The Rage Online Player of the Season Poll was won by Northern Ireland international striker Phil Gray, who scored 32%. He was well ahead of second placed Jon Richardson with 22%. Youngster Chris Hackett finished third with 10% and another local lad, Dean Whitehead, polled 8%.

Idiot wind

The Weakest Link of the Season was a lot closer, being a two man fight between the eventual winner, Steve Anthrobus (36%), and the consistent Weakest Link on a match by match basis, Matt Murphy (34%). A long way back with just 8% was the now ex-U Peter Fear while Player of the Decade for the '90s Joey Beauchamp came fourth with 6%.
