Curse strikes again

The curse of the former United players struck again after 15 minutes as Lee Nogan struck for York City to give the Minstermen a half-time lead. Jamie Brooks scored a spectacular equaliser two minutes into the second half, a couple of minutes before an Ian McCaldon error allowed Michael Proctor to restore York's lead. Brooks then raced through to score a fortuitous second eight minutes from time to earn United a point.

Manny Omoyinmi returned to the side in place of Dean Whitehead as Oxford reverted to their favoured 3-4-3 home formation, with Sam Ricketts coming into the back three to replace the suspended Wayne Hatswell. United's first substitution saw Whitehead come on in place of Robert Quinn. Manny Omoyinmi was then surprisingly taken off to allow the on-loan Stuart Douglas a run out before, finally, Sam Stockley was taken off for ROS Rob Folland.

Referee A Hall booked Brookes for a late tackle, along with three York players, but otherwise had a quiet game. The attendance was 5,487 and a match report can be found here.

This result leaves United down one place to 18th in the table, whilst York have risen two places to 11th. Plymouth are now top again, courtesy of their 1-0 win over Hartlepool, who have dropped to the bottom of the league. Most humourous result of the day was Mansfield's 4-1 demolition of Luton, whilst Hull beat Cheltenham 5-1. United's next opponents, Darlington, drew 2-2 at Halifax to leave themselves 13th, one point ahead of the Us.

In the premiership Robbie Mustoe scored Middlesbrough's fifth goal in their 5-1 defeat of Derby. In Division Two QPR won 2-0 at Notts County thanks to two goals in a minute from Andy Thomson, whilst in the Conference Mark McGregor scored Nuneaton's second goal in their 3-2 home defeat to Barnet.
