Billy Turley today became Oxford's current longest-serving player. Chris Wilder today announced which of the out-of-contract players he is intending to keep, and the answer is just two of them. Shane Killock, who joined from Huddersfield, and Kevin Sandwith, who arrived from Weymouth, have both been offered new deals. However, Matt Day, Eddie Hutchinson, Yemi Odubade, Chris Willmott, Barry Quinn, Craig Nelthorpe, Matty Taylor, and Phil Trainer have all been released. In addition, Chris Carruthers has been told, like Joe Burnell, that he is free to look for another club. Meanwhile, talks are apparently ongoing with Sheffield United in a bid to sign Adam Chapman permanently. Meanwhile, Lewis Haldane has returned to Bristol Rovers and Craig Farrell has gone back Yorkside.
The other big piece of player-related news is that James Constable has today completed the paperwork to join United for the next three years. This deal was originally announced earlier this month, but then Shrewsbury manager Paul Simpson (former Manor legend) decided that it wasn't so. It would appear that he was wrong and Kelvin Thomas was right, so nyaa.
As far as we can tell, this leaves the Oxford squad looking something like this:
Goal: Billy Turley (what about Ben Hinchliffe – he's out of contract this summer?)
Defence: Damien Batt, Luke Foster, Shane Killock, Kevin Sandwith, Ian Sampson
Midfield: Simon Clist, Adam Murray, Adam Chapman (?), Richard Groves, Declan Benjamin, Sam Deering
Attack: James Constable [@player]day, matt[/@player][@player]hutchinson, eddie[/@player][@player]willmott, chris[/@player][@player]quinn, barry[/@player][@player]taylor, matt[/@player][@player]nelthorpe, craig[/@player][@player]trainer, phil[/@player][@player]odubade, yemi[/@player][@player]haldane, lewis[/@player][@player]farrell, craig[/@player]
