Consortiums?

From the Rage Online newsdesk Tuesday, November 4th, 2003

Firoz Kassam revealed today that he is in talks with two consortia who are bidding to buy Oxford United. Allegedly neither group has expressed interest in the stadium or ancillary developments.

Without more information it would be folly to speculate who is involved with either consortium, although Jim Rosenthal has apparently declared that he is involved with neither. Kassam himself has stated that he would only sell to someone who has the club’s best interests at heart and who is prepared to invest.

One of the groups was said to have been present at Saturday’s match against Darlington; hopefully George Reynolds was not involved. Kassam has said that he will make an announcement “in about ten days”, so it’s feasible (if unlikely) that United could be under new management by the time they play their next home game (against Macclesfield on November 22nd).
