Conference confusion

From the Rage Online newsdesk Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

In tonight's FA Trophy second round replay between Eastbourne Borough and Cambridge United, Cambridge won 2-0. This means that Oxford's scheduled game against Cambridge on Tuesday will once more be postponed, as that is when they are due to play their third round game against the winners of Saturday's second round tie between Salisbury City and Maidstone United, unless that match ends in a draw, as their replay will be on Tuesday instead, in which case United's game against Cambridge will be on Tuesday, unless Oxford draw at Chelmsford on Saturday, as the replay will be on Tuesday. Probably.

In tonight's other FA Trophy games, York City beat Newport County 1-0 with a last-minute goal, Tamworth beat Gainsborough Trinity 2-1, and Marc McGregor scored twice as Worcester City won 4-0 at Carshalton Athletic. This makes the third round draw look like this, for now:
York City v Corby Town
Guiseley AFC v Tamworth
Worcester City v Kidderminster Harriers
AFC Wimbledon v Workington
Cambridge United v Salisbury City or Maidstone United
Stevenage Borough v Dover Athletic
Barrow v Gateshead
Chelmsford City v Oxford United

In tonight's Conference games Kettering Town moved up to fourth place with a 2-0 win at third-bottom Gateshead. Rushden & Diamonds remain seventh after being held to a 0-0 draw by Wrexham. Kidderminster Harriers (who could well be United's next league opposition) remain ninth despite beating Grays Athletic 4-1, with Jamie Guy scoring a penalty for the hapless Gravelmen. Hayes & Yeading lost 3-2 at home to Forest Green Rovers, who climbed above Ebbsfleet United and out of the relegation zone as a result. Steve Basham scored both of H&Y's goals.
