Tomorrow, United’s feeder-team, Northampton Town, visit the KasStad for the first time, allowing Oxford fans a unique opportunity to watch the Us players of the future. Under the management of Martin Wilkinson, until the weekend at least, Northampton are currently 10th, only three points behind the Yellows.
Oxford will hope that both Paul Wanless and Steve Basham are fit, after they missed the midweek cup defeat by Reading. There must also be doubts about Julian Alsop starting up front after he looked unfit and sluggish against the Biscuitmen, especially considering the way that Jefferson Louis burst onto the scene. Derek Townsley, too, must be wondering if his starting place is in jeopardy after another uncomfortable performance in midfield. Changes at the back are unlikely, though.
United have only ever lost twice to Northampton, and have a 100% home record against the Cobblers. If Oxford play as they have shown that they sometimes can (in a good sense) then this should be a fairly comfortable win. Rage Online is therefore predicting a 1-1 draw – we don’t want to break the habit of a lifetime, after all.
