Oxford United’s reserves ended their season with a 1-1 draw at home to Millwall this evening. United, fielding five triallists, were by far the better team and should have won comfortably, but were denied by the woodwork, by Lions keeper Terry Masterson, and by some profligate finishing. Former Oldham and Rushden manager Brian Talbot has been announced as Oxford’s new manager in a press conference held this afternoon at the KasStad. Talbot was manager of West Brom for just over two years, from 1988 until 1991, before going to manage Aldershot. He took over at Rushden in March 1997, and took them  [ more ]

The news that (almost) no Oxford fan wanted to hear has just been confirmed. Niether Horacio Rodriguez nor Jean-Marc Goiran are remaining at the club, and Pablo Fernandez is also leaving. United reserves kept a clean sheet against Colchester reserves at Court Place Farm this afternoon, although they themselves were unable to score in an entertaining 0-0 draw. United’s latest humiliation occured at Spotland this afternoon, as Rochdale put five past them for Oxford’s second-worst result of the season. The disaster took only three minutes to start, with Greg Heald scoring from a corner.
