United have signed yet another new player, this time Dundee’s Dave Mackay has joined up on a two year contract. Mackay was a regular for Dundee in the SPL last season, and also played in their UEFA Cup run. The right-back apparently likes to go forward, and speaks fondly of his time at Dundee when  [ more ]

No new signings to report (yet), but there are a couple of things that we can report. Firstly Manny Omoyinmi, released by United at the end of the season, has found gainful employment with Gravesend & Northfleet. Two more players signed up for United today as the squad continues to take shape for next season. First to put pen to paper was defender Matt Robinson, who signed a two year deal. United today announced, to general acclaim, that they have signed former loanee midfielder Barry Quinn. Quinn, who made five starts for United in his two months here at the end of last season, was one of nine players released by Coventry City a couple of weeks ago, and allegedly turned down approaches from a number  [ more ]

Michael Alexis became the latest player to sign a contract for United when he accepted a six month deal yesterday. Alexis was offered professional terms a couple of years ago, but has been unable to get into the first team, however Graham Rix has given the young midfielder some more time in which to prove  [ more ]

There were plenty of comings, and one going, at the KasStad today, as United announced the signing of five new players (although two of them were already here, so that’s cheating). Up and coming superlative goalkeeper Simon Cox signed an unheard of three-year deal as his performances at the end of last season reaped dividends  [ more ]

United know who one more of their opponents are going to be next season, as Shrewsbury beat Aldershot on penalties in the Conference play-off final. The Shots took the lead in the second half, but the Shrews equalised to take the game to extra-time and then penalties. Aldershot missed all three of their spot-kicks, so  [ more ]

United announced their provisional pre-season friendly list today, with five games lined up, three away and two at home. The first game is the now traditional pre-season opener at Oxford City on Saturday July 10th. Last season United beat City 4-0 at Court Place Farm, in front of about 660 spectators. The first stage of the rebuilding process began today, as Graham Rix spoke to all of the out-of-contract players at United. Some were offered new contracts, but six players were told that they are now surplus to requirements at the KasStad.
