Cain gets the sugar

From the Rage Online newsdesk Friday, February 19th, 2010

Oxford United have signed winger Ashley Cain on a one-month emergency loan deal from Coventry City. Cain is eligible to play up to and including Sunday 21 March.

Cain is a lightning-quick winger who can play on either flank and also through the middle, and will be seen by Chris Wilder as a direct replacement for Alfie Potter, who was injured against Histon. He impressed Wilder when United had a practice match at Coventry in November, scoring a hat-trick in the Sky Blues' 4-0 win.

Cain, who also had a one-game loan spell at Luton Town earlier this season, joined Oxford in time to be registered for tomorrow's FA Trophy quarter-final against Kidderminster Harriers, and will presumably therefore go straight into the squad. His signing became the fourth to be funded by the 12th-Man Fund.
