In the draw for the third round of the FA Cup, Oxford United were handed a trip to the Stadium of Light to play Sunderland, should the Us manage to overcome Barrow in their second-round replay on Tuesday week.
The Rokerites, as was, are now without United's favourite son Dean Whitehead, but will nevertheless prove difficult opponents. The last time the sides met in the FA Cup was in the fourth round in February 1992, with Sunderland winning 3-2 at the Manor. The sides also met in the third round three years earlier, with Oxford winning 2-0 at the Manor in a replay after a 1-1 draw at Roker Park. A similar scenario would go down a treat this season.
The other non-league outfits were also all given away draws. Forest Green Rovers were drawn to play NOtts County, and York City will visit Stoke City. If Luton Town can beat Rotherham United they will visit Southampton, while Kettering Town's reward if they can overcome Leeds United is a trip to Old Trafford to play Manchester United. Bucking the trend were Staines Town, who will host Derby County if they can beat Millwall in their replay.[@opponent]sunderland[/@opponent]
