Basham street kid

United today signed former Preston striker Steve Basham, subject to him passing a medical. Basham featured for part of the second half of the game against his other former club Southampton and impressed Ian Atkins in training. He is the seventh player to sign for United this Summer, but as yet we have no details as to the length of his contract.

Loose ends

Mark Warren, released by Notts County and allegedly on trial briefly at Oxford a few weeks ago, has been signed by Colchester United on a one year contract. Plymouth's Martin Gritten, who played on trial for United in the first pre-season friendly at Oxford City, has been given a one month loan to Torquay. Meanwhile Ian McGuckin played on trial for City during their 3-1 defeat at swindon Supermarine last weekend.
