Oxford United have announced the signing of Jonathan Franks from Middlesbrough, though thankfully not as a replacement for James Constable. The Division Two side have agreed to loan out the 21-year-old forward to United until 1 January 2012. The England Under-19 international has failed to make a first-team appearance this season, despite making 30 appearances for Boro overall which included three goals.

Franks came through the Middlesbrough youth setup and has been at the club his whole career. Unfortunately he has missed the first half of Boro's campaign as he underwent back surgery during the summer.
